Went and bought 8 corn dogs for only $4 and sold two of them to my sister for $1.50 so I got one of my corn dogs for free pretty much. Finally move a giant dresser that's been sitting in my living room into my room. It was extremely heavy and I am extremely weak so it was pretty difficult. Good thing I got my old man who is a beast. Hurt my back and shoulders a little, but at least now I don't have to put all of my clothes on the ground like I have been for the past month and a half.
Thu, 16 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Feb 15, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-15-2017.html
70:00 + 25:00 morning run

Dope workout. 12x400 at CV 1:18-1:19. Started about 1:21 and went down to 1:19 on the 4th one and kept it pretty constant the whole workout. Chest kinda started hurting with 2 to go, but the workout wasn't hard enough for it to prevent me from finishing. Really long cool down.

Did the workout in my new shoes and they are siiicccckkkkk. Saucony Type A racing flats. Feel pretty nice but now I need another pair to do normal runs in and stuff because these shoes probably won't last too long.
Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Feb 14, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-14-2017.html
45:00 + 15:00 morning run

#TrailRunTuesday

Church rocks trail run. The tunnel was spooky. I was the first one in on the way out and I was worried I would fall over and everyone would kill me, and one the way back I was the last one in and I was worried someone would attack me from behind and no one would know. But as you can see, I survived.

I went and got some sick new Saucony running shoes. Lightweight pair for workouts and such. Now I can start keeping track of shoe mileage so that's cool.
Tue, 14 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Feb 13, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-13-2017.html
95:00

Looonnnnnnnnng jacket. Long run was dope. Went clear out to the fields and around Shinob Kibe or however you spell it and we came back on the trail to Sullivan park. Was pretty chill and not stressful at all so that's good. I definitely need some new shoes so I'll proabably go get some today
Mon, 13 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Sun, Feb 12, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-12-2017.html Sun, 12 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Feb 11, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-11-2017.html
65:00

Very slow and hard run. I'm not sure why but I am so fatigued from this week. Traveling up north and back and doing both runs within 8 hours of each other and aahhhhh. The whole run was just long and I couldn't get myself to go faster than 8:30 pace and my legs wouldn't take my knees higher. It's alright though. I still got a quicker finish of about 7:50 and went home and then went straight to work. Although I had a rough start to my morning, I went to a pokemon tournament after work and I won! So overall it balanced out as a decent day.
Sat, 11 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Feb 10, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-10-2017.html
65:00

Nice tempo run. Went from 6:20 to 5:50 by the end. Just short of 5 miles. That's a lot of laps on the track, but it doesn't bother me one bit, because I plan on spending the rest of my life on the track.
Fri, 10 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Feb 09, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-09-2017.html
70:00

After doing the math last night about how far away from my hotel Alta High was, I deided to do my workout there. It was super dark and I was way tired when I woke up, but I had to get it done. Went and hopped the small fence onto their track and did the workout. All one minute with equal recovery, I did 4 CV, 3 threshold, 3 tempo, 3 thres and 4 cv. Hit all of my paces right on, except for the first two tempos were a bit quick. Overall good workout.

On the way back, however, I almost got killed...... by a plastic bag stuck to a tree. At 5 in the morning in a place you don't know anything about, you get a little paranoid. When running around corners or next to parked cars and such, I ran with my fists clenched ready to fight. Although I was ready to fight, the plastic bag scared the freaking crap out of me. I jumped so far that if there was a car coming they definitely would have hit me.
Thu, 09 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Feb 08, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-08-2017.html
50:00

Up north to tour some colleges. Check for some high schools near my hotel on maps, and found Alta High 2.2 miles away. Got to the hotel at like 9:20 and I quickly changed and went running towards Alta to see if I could do my workout tomorrow morning. It took my about 17 minutes to get there and the workout calls for 15 minutes of warmup, so I figured it was pretty good. I ran down the street a little further and then flipped and ran back to the hotel. It was kinda scary being there alone in the dark and not knowing exaclty where I was, but I'm still alive so it's okay.
Wed, 08 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Feb 07, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-07-2017.html
45:00 + 15 morning run and weights

ROOT BEER MILLLEEEEEEE!!!! Dope. Congrats to Mitch for breaking his own record by 8 seconds. Congrats to Dylan for pushing the last lap (unlike me who had to stop with 200 to go so I didn't throw up) and throwing up hard (into the trash can, luckily) right after the finish line. 4th place is still pretty good, and I'm guessing I'll get 2nd next year. Not really my strongest event, so I think I'll just continue to work toward the 3200 and 1600...
Tue, 07 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Feb 06, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-06-2017.html
1:35:00

Long runnnnnnn. Went under the new underpass and ran all the way up a hill to Leads I think? It was ALL up hill and it blowed. Not hard but just long and slow. The way back was fun though because it was all downhill! Achilles kinda started hurting, but it went away mid run. Iced it when I got home with a bag of Dino nuggets because our ice machine doesn't work. Win-Win-Win because I got to eat dino nuggets, ice my achilles, and Idk what the other win is but I was happy.
Mon, 06 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Sun, Feb 05, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-05-2017.html Sun, 05 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Feb 04, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-04-2017.html
60:00

Nice chill run by my lonesome. Ran from my house out to the Fields and did Roller Coasters. It was epic. It's like a real roller coaster bc it's just up down up down up down wheeee and it's fun. On my way back home I saw some birds flying and it was pretty interesting. Rather than flying In a "V" shape, they were all lined up diagonally. I was watching and was very interested in how they were all the same distance between each other and flapping their wings at the same time. Then suddenly, the front 3 birds started going a little quicker and to the left. The rest of the pack started slowing and drifting to the left, and they all started making noise. Then the front of the back pack zoomed and reconnected with the front pack, and all of the others followed without question.

I connected this back to Cross Country races. We try our hardest to keep a nice pack, and the front people always break off and the next pack never really pushes with them. I feel like the communication was the most important part of the birds' packing. The front group left, started to leave, then they all communicated and regrouped back together. I honestly learned a lot from these birds and I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this lesson whenver I talk about teamwork. I konw it's probably not that easy, and these birds fly together every day to practice. It's just going to be something that we have to work on together, and master the art of packing.
Sat, 04 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Feb 03, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-03-2017.html
65:00

Nice tempo run. I felt like garbage all day and I'm not sure why. Started out the workout with the main pack, and I felt so much better once we started. After 2 miles coach and I busted ahead and went from 6:20 straight to 6:05 and we were on pace the whole time. Picked it up the last minute. Nice workout and not stressful at all.
Fri, 03 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Feb 02, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-02-2017.html
55:00 + 15:00 morning run & weights

Wowwww. I woke up late for the first time this whole YEAR. Year as in since school started. I woke up at 6:15 exactly, and I woke up to a text message sound, and my phone said that the alarm was going off, but there was no sound. Laaammmeee. I usually have good habits and automatically wake up like 5 minutes before my alarm, but I had a super crazy dream that I'd rather not share on here, so I'm guessing that's why I didn't wake up.

Anyways... Run was hilly up to Green Springs, and I don't know why but I was just going slow up the hills. I didn't feel tired or anything, but I felt like everyone was going really fast.
Thu, 02 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Feb 01, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-02-01-2017.html
60:00

Nice workout with the 3-3-5-3-3 things at slower to faster to slower paces. Started the first one and Coach was running next to me and asked if I felt like we were on pace, I told him no we're too slow, and he was questioning it for a second but I picked it up and hit the exact distance I was supposed to. He said he should've never doubted me, and that he doesn't doubt me often. Feels good to have a coach be proud of you and understand what you're capable of. Thanks buddy :))
Wed, 01 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Jan 31, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-31-2017.html
50:00 + 15:00 morning run

Nice trail run up through Mustang Pass. Southern Utah is pretty.
Tue, 31 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Jan 30, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-30-2017.html
85:00

Long runnnn. Recovery week so we did less minutes than normal. Had to go to the bathroom SUPER bad so I had to break off of the pack and stop halfway through the run. I ended up finding them near the end of the run, so I finished with them then ran 10 more minutes by myself. Not a hard run at all
Mon, 30 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Sun, Jan 29, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-29-2017.html
Took a nap on accident today. Was reading Running for My Life (about Lopez Lomong-defs best book) and just dozed off. I haven't taken a nap since like XC season and I rarely even took them then. It definitely messed up the rest of the day.
Sun, 29 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Jan 28, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-28-2017.html
70:00

Nice run all by my lonesome up turtle road. Stopped halfway through to admire the desert wildlife. Fast finish on the way back. I hope my wife will be as hot as Southern Utah, but that probably won't happen because it is 9.8/10
Sat, 28 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Jan 27, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-27-2017.html
65:00

Tempo!! Finally got to go quick because Trevor came to help at practice today and run up in the front with me. I ended up catching up and lapping the rest of the guys, and they invited me to run with them but go to lane 8 so that I could keep my pace, and I turned them down. At first I kinda felt bad but I was just doin my thing and so in the zone I didn't want to have to change everything. I hope it's like that in the races -- me in the front not having to base my speed off of someone else.
Fri, 27 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Jan 26, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-26-2017.html
65:00 + 15 morning run

Nice hilly run up Foremaster and back down the other side but we went towards the hospital and ran through town. Led the whole time going about 7:10 pace.
Thu, 26 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Jan 25, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-25-2017.html
60:00

Tempo Threshold Critical Velocity whatever workout. We tried some weird strategy where we would all go in different lanes to make up for distance, and it was just confusing so I gave up. I'd rather get used to running in lane 1 then figure out distances for lane 8
Wed, 25 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Jan 24, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-24-2017.html
50:00 + 15 morning run

Nice trail run with some dope dino tracks. That's about it.
Tue, 24 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Jan 23, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-23-2017.html
95:00

Longest runnnnnnn. The wind was strong so it was freezing on the way out, but we had pickups plus wind on the way back, and we were cruuuuuising. Super fun and I felt surprisingly good the whole time.
Mon, 23 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Sun, Jan 22, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-22-2017.html Sun, 22 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Jan 21, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-21-2017.html
80:00

Dope run will Alex and Julien up into the desert past Alex's house. On the way back Alex's back started hurting and at first I thought he was being a wuss, but then it got to the point where he couldn't run anymore so he walked through the desert up to the road and Julien and I went and got in the car and drove like 5 blocks to pick Alex up, and we found him lying down on the sidewalk sprawled out like he was dead. He got a little better and we went to Denny's to celebrate his OKness.
Sat, 21 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Jan 20, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-20-2017.html
50:00

Super duper rainy run. Was fun and Julien's face looked messed up because he was wet and cold, and I started making fun of him, then my face got all tensed up and froze and I looked like an idiot. It was really cold and miserable but it was a good experience I guess. Had striders after too and they sucked.
Fri, 20 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Jan 19, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-19-2017.html
65:00

Nice tempo workout today. Average of 6:20 pace. Julien and I started out a bit slow, but then we picked it back up and we were on pace the rest of the time. I love running quick for a long time.
Thu, 19 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Jan 18, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-18-2017.html
50:00

AAYYYYEEEEE easy run ath. Chill pace to recover from our hard run on monday and our workout yesterday. I need to learn how a watch works because I forgot to start it when we stopped at a crosswalk, and I saved it somehow in the middle of the run when we were still running. smh
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Jan 17, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-17-2017.html
weights plus morning run--15:00

60:00

Nice workout today. Not sure the name of it, but it's 3x60 second at tempo, then 3x60 second threshold, then 5x30 second critical velocity. Then do it all again but backwards. My paces were a bit quicker than the others, so I was up front a bit every time. Not that hard of a workout but it got our legs moving and that's good.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Jan 16, 2017 http://Horsbra.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-16-2017.html
1:35:00

Went out and did Suicidal Tendencies with the team. One of my favorite trails. Not a hard run surprisingly. Celebrated and had doughnuts for Coach Roberts's birthday. There were 8 donuts leftover and I took them home and I'm probably going to die because I ate 7 of them throughout the day... oops.
Mon, 16 Jan 2017 07:00:00
